Peaceful, traditional cottages in South West Cornwall

Ruby Farmhouse Holiday Cottages are located in a peaceful part of South West Cornwall, on the edge of the village of Porkellis. The local village pub, The Star Inn, is just a 5-minute walk away, offering delicious food, real ale, and wine.

This is a perfect spot if you want a quiet getaway but still want to be within easy reach of local attractions. The beach is only 20 minutes away or you can reach the Eden Project in just 45 minutes. If you’re interested in wildlife, the Gweek Seal Sanctuary, where rescued seals are cared for, is only 10 minutes away.

The nearby town of Falmouth, just 5 miles away, is great for sightseeing, with its lovely harbourside, galleries, and excellent dining options. Porthleven, a charming coastal town about 15 minutes away, is ideal for food lovers or those wishing to explore the South West Coast Path. For day trips, Land’s End is about an hour away, and St Ives is around 45 minutes by car.

When you return from your adventures, the kids can enjoy outdoor games, and there are plenty of seating areas for you to relax while your BBQ warms up. If you’d prefer, you can also enjoy a meal at the local pub.

Thanks for a good stay in this nice historic cottage. The weather has been mixed but better than we thought it would be. Thank you Arran for the cream tea etc left in the fridge on our arrival. Best places visited were Gunwalloe, Godrevy and Praa Sands. Best food we found at Whealdream Halzephron and The Star Inn. Smashing countryside around and a nice secluded position to stay.

We had such an amazing week blessed by good weather and some great beaches. Our favourite beaches were Godrevy and Porthtowan, both of which are a 25 minute drive away. We also really enjoyed using the barbeque outside the cottage and the DVD player with the TV was a lifesaver. The location of our cottage was perfect as we could easily get to North and South beaches as well as shops near to the area. We hope to be back in Cornwall soon.

Our family has stayed at Ruby Cottages multiple times because the accommodation is always lovely and the people are too. Had awesome weather, lots of coastal walks on the Lizard. Walked along Helford passage to have lunch at the FerryBoat Inn. Kota Kai in Porthleven was amazing. Went kayaking and that was great fun too. Will be back soon!

Thank you Arran for your hospitality, arriving at 4am Saturday morning to find cream teas waiting for us was excellent, just what we needed after a long journey. The cottage was perfect for the two of us and our two dogs. The cottage was very clean and very well stocked with everything we needed – a real home from home.
